( It's a pretty normal day at the citadel until news breaks out that the saniwa has managed to summon a new spirit. Depending on who you've heard the news from, you may or may not have the name. Or maybe you've heard that the newcomer is supposed to be a beautiful sword dressed in white. Or that he's an imperial sword or some other vague but specific piece of information. Either way, it should be easy to find a new face here, right?
Just follow the sounds of one (1) distressed sounding Konnosuke and you'll see the newest addition to your rag tag sword army. He's picked up Konnosuke and has him on his back in front of him, rubbing at his belly. Konnosuke squirms to get free. )
A little fox! You remind me of someone. ( Konnosuke squirms in his hands, trying to get free. ("Tsurumaru-san, please, let me go! I'm a pipe fox spirit, not a common fox!" The new spirit laughs,). ) And you really talk! What a surprise!
( And he looks up to see you, who's arrived to crash his fun, )
Yo~ ( He'd salute in greeting but his hands are a little full, ) Are you surprised to see someone like me?
( SET KONNOSUKE FREE )

( Some time has passed since Tsurumaru Kuninaga arrived at the citadel and most people are used to his character by now. It's a cool fall day and you're out in the garden for whatever reason. Most of the trees are losing their leaves and can be found in collected piles here and there. There's one particularly large pile and when you walk past it... )
Waah!
( Tsurumaru jumps up, throwing the leaves in the air and at you. Standing straight, hands on his hips and still covered in ginkgo leaves, )
Ahahaha! Are you surprised?
( He's so proud. )
Red
( Returning from a mission, Tsurumaru laughs casually as the Konnosukes scurry towards the squad. The last mission had some unexpected turns and what was supposed to be an easy scouting mission turned into an unexpected battle. Even if they were able to handle themselves, they'd still come back with injuries.
As they run their scan on the returning touken danshi, Tsurumaru holds out his arms, revealing sleeves speckled with red. )
What do you think?
( He shows them off to someone nearby-- either a squad mate or a concerned passerby or some other sword that was sent to check on them. And he gives a little turn to show the rest of him, revealing more blood on the back and hood. Konnosuke chides him to stay still because he's disrupting the scan. )
It's too bad.
( The battle had been too short and easy. It wasn't enough to achieve his #aesthetic. )
A little more and I would really look like a crane.
( "Stay still!" Konnosuke snaps again. )

I'm Tsurumaru Kuninaga. Made in the Heian era, I've been passed from owner to owner up until now. ( Some rather famous hands, even. ) Well, that shows just how renowned I am.
You're a formal one, aren't you? ( He glances at Tonbokiri, sizing him up and trying to get a read on him, ) I might be in the imperial collection but you're Tonbokiri. I'd say we're about the same.
no subject
About the same? He shakes his head humbly, but smiles.]
No, no, not at all. It is an honour. You are indeed renowned, and a most welcome addition to Aruji's forces.
Have you been shown around Honmaru yet? You probably know some here already... Which reminds me. I did not mean to overhear, but, you said that Konnosuke reminded you of someone?
no subject
Not yet. ( Not really. He's seen some places but he hasn't had a proper introduction to his new home just yet. Apparently, his room had to be set up now that they know who he is. ) Yes, I believe they said something about making room for me with Mitsu-bou and Kara-bou.
( So his old companions are here! He wonders who else he might see. )
Mm, Kogitsunemaru. ( The Little Fox. ) We're from the same school.
( Which would also put him in the same school as the other Sanjou. )
no subject
What... Are those nicknames...?
But at least Tsurumaru-dono does seem to know some of the others here! Actually--]
The same school as Kogitsunemaru-dono? Then... Ah! You have several who are like family here, then.
Perhaps, you may prefer if one of them introduced you to Honmaru.
no subject
( Mikazuki? Imanotsurugi? Well, there are a lot of Sanjou swords so who knows. And he seems to seriously consider if he wants to meet the others right now or not... )
I'll accept Tonbokiri's offer! Show me around so I can surprise them best. Where are there rooms?
no subject
Mikazuki Munechika-dono, Ishikirimaru-dono... Imanotsurugi-dono and Iwatooshi-dono.
[(Are you making Tonbo an accessory to trolling?)]
If you like, it would be my pleasure.
Their rooms, though... I am not completely certain which is theirs. However, I can show you where they best like to spend their time, and you would get to see more of Honmaru that way.
Please, follow me.
[On the way out he pets Konnosuke gently on the head again and says,]
If you see any of them, perhaps don't let them know the new sword is looking for them? Since Tsurumaru-dono wishes to surprise them.
no subject
I've kept them waiting! It'll be difficult to surprise them if they're expecting me. ( He pumps both of his fists in front of him, ) A fine challenge!
( He watches Tonbokiri and Konnosuke's little exchange. It's obvious that Konnosuke isn't completely sold on the idea of keeping secrets (because surely they'd want to know Tsurumaru is here...?) but it's nothing a sly look from Tsurumaru can't solve. )
If there's a problem, perhaps Konnosuke would like to accompany us! ( And he starts to reach for the little fox........ who immediately runs off (I make no promises!). Delighted and clearly proud of the reaction he got, he laughs again. Ah, he might like here. He can tell it'll be interesting. ) My, was it something I said?
( He's innocent! )
Shall we go, Tonbokiri?
no subject
Poor Konnosuke, though...]
Yes. ...I hope you can make amends with Konnosuke later. The pipe foxes do important work with us, and I'm certain it would go smoother if you got along well.
[ (Future-you is sighing sadly, Tonbo.) ]
[Tonbokiri leads the way out to the porch that has the best view of the gardens.]
This is where Mikazuki-dono often comes to drink tea. [And...
skip workrelax. Right.] Kogitsunemaru-dono is usually with him, too. From here you can see the roof of the stables, and beyond that are the fields.
Do you like horses, Tsurumaru-dono?
no subject
( Can't you tell?
He'll poke his head into the room. Despite all of his talk about surprising his old friends, he can't help but half hope to see them already. Surely, they would be surprised to see him regardless. Seeing no one, he'll just go ahead and take a step into said room, getting a look at the view from within. )
Aaah! ( He lets out a loud sigh, his hands on his hips, ) I can see why!
From here, you can see a lot.
( A possible place to observe his pranks in peace? Ohoho. As for the question? )
Of course. ( Says someone who has never had to actually take care of horses. ) They're popular at the shrine. In fact, they love them.
( Fuji no Mori. )

[For now, Tonbokiri is happy to talk about horses!]
Is that so? Ah, that's good. I love horses as well. My former master was a sound user of cavalry. Taking care of horses and working the fields are my two favourite chores. I hope that you can find the work that suits you the best here as well.
[He starts leading the way further into the building, thinking even as he walks.
Where do the other three swords spend the most time? He runs into them fairly infrequently, himself.
Maybe the training room or the dojo for Iwatooshi-dono? Wherever he is, little Imanotsurugi-dono will not be far. And the field for Ishikirimaru?]
Before going outside, I'll take you by the dojo, kitchen, and perhaps a few other rooms.
no subject
That's right! Fuji no Mori Shrine in Fushimi. ( Like Fushimi Inari! ) Have you heard of it? The old god there has a thing for horse and victory. He must have been looking out for your old master.
( He laughs. Yes, it's a fun little shrine. It's old like him and while horses are fun, so are the children that visit... But wait, something about Tonbokiri's words is catching up with him and he follows after Tonbokiri, )
What's this about chores?
no subject
Yes! Hearing of you speak of it reminded me. Any number of warriors went to pray there, yet Honda Tadakatsu was blessed indeed.
[Coming to the kitchen, he slides open the door. Even though breakfast was not long ago, those making lunch are already beginning preparations. As to not disturb them, Tonbokiri stays in the hallway.]
As you will soon see, there are many swords that Aruji has called here. So in order to have things run well, we all do our part. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, taking care of the horses and the fields... There is a lot to do for the sake of these human bodies we have been blessed with. It is a fair exchange, is it not?
no subject
He listens to Tonbokiri explain and can't help but look unimpressed. Cooking? Cleaning? Laundry? .... Taking care of the horses and the fields? He's a treasured sword, one that is known for his beauty, and dressed in all white, he likes to be kept clean... )
Right, fair.
( Hm. This is going to be a troublesome grandpa sword. Another Mikazuki situation.... disliking chores and preferring to do his own thing. )
no subject
Yes. Well, you have only just arrived. I'm certain that you will find a way that you can show your gratitude best.
Every experience is new, so you will certainly find that you have a hidden talent for something that you couldn't do before now. It will just take a little searching.
[Speaking of, they will move on from the kitchen now. The dojo is up next.]
